Angelmorphosis 1 – Changing Ice Sculpture
Late winter is ice carving time in Fairbanks. Right now the 2012 World Ice Art Championship is underway, but carvers have been producing ice sculptures around town since January.

As much as I like the sculptures themselves, what I really enjoy is watching the sculptures change after humans have finished them. A covering of snow changes their character. The warmer temperatures later this month will morph them into abstract shapes.
A business near my home has an ice angel carved in his front yard every year. This year I’m going to periodically take photos of the angel and post them to show the transformation.
