Drawing of Unkown First Family sculpture at Golden Heart Plaza
This sculpture of “The Unknown First Family” (located on a pedestal in the middle of a fountain) is the focal point of Golden Heart Plaza, a small park on the banks of the Chena River in downtown Fairbanks. The park is a venue for outdoor concerts and street fairs during summer.
The 18’ high bronze statue depicts an Alaska Native family and was sculpted by Malcolm Alexander. It is dedicated “to all families past, present and future, and to the indomitable spirit of the people of Alaska’s interior.”
