Gull Eyot at Freestone Ponds in Portage Glacier Valley – 6-2-2021

Freestone Ponds om Portage Glacier Valley at about 6 AM.

We drove down to the Kenai Peninsula this past week, and spent the first night at Williwaw Campground in the Portage Glacier Valley. The campground is in Chugach National Forest.  At about 6 AM the next morning we hiked up to Portage Lake. These photos were taken at Freestone Ponds along the way. The first is a panorama of the ponds. The second is of a small eyot (left-of-center) in the ponds. The white spot at the top of the eyot is a gull nesting in the moss.
