We just returned from a trip to the Kenai Peninsula. Here are a few pics of the Orthodox church at Ninilchik. For those of you unfamiliar with Ninilchik, the old village is nestled in a small pocket in the coastal bluff where the Ninilchik River empties into Cook Inlet. The church sits on top of the bluff overlooking the village and Cook Inlet. The village was established in about 1846 as a pensioner’s community for retiring Russian-American Company employees. The church was built in 1901.
