Fairbanks – 12-27-2021 – Out my back door after the storm
We had a major storm roll through Interior Alaska over the weekend – almost 2′ of snow, followed by temperatures near 40 degrees F above 0, rain and wind. Everything is now coated with about 3/4″ of ice.
Roads are treacherous, lots pf people without power. The roof of the only grocery store in Delta Junction, 100 miles away, collapsed, and the highway between there and Fairbanks is too ice to travel.
The view out my back door looks serene enough, but that sheen on the snow is an icy crust. It’s going to take a while to dog out.
We are also forecast to get another foot of snow today and tomorrow. This is not our typical December weather!
